Autobot Jr Targetmasters

It seems that these guys have gained a bit of popularity with the recent release of Generations Scoop. (who is a great figure by the way) Who just happened to be the only one of the three that I didn't have as a kid. These are smaller than the other targetmasters, who are closer to large deluxe size/voyagers. These I would put at scout size, a little bigger maybe. All three of them come with two Targetmasters each.

Terrorcons and Abominus

One of the most unique combiner teams from G1 is the Terrorcons, released as a rival for Computron in 86. I pieced the set together from a couple different places. No real story behind it.

First up is Cutthroat, He's some sort of bird like monster. One of the first figures that was made with a weapon forming part of the alt mode. It forms the tail of the beast.

The next is Blot. He's some random monster thing.

In bot mode, he's not a lot better. He's basically a block.

Sinnertwin is pretty fragile for some reason the heads snap off if he's used as an arm. too much pressure or something on that type of plastic. Good thing he makes a good leg.

Lastly out of the limbs, Rippersnapper. He's some kind of walking shark monster.

The leader of the team is Hun-Grr. He's a two headed dragon. He's one of the most poseable G1 figures. In dragon mode, there is three pivots and the waist front and back movement. the front legs go front and back and there is a joint to swivel them inwards thanks to transformation. the rear ones go front and back and the knees and toes move.

In bot mode he has the same joints plus a neck turning joint.

Like the the others, He was supposed to have a base mode add on, but his was cancelled, this is the closest I can get it to what is shown in the drawing, Cybertronian ice cream dispenser maybe?

The combined mode is pretty decent. Even with the thinner thighs, he doesn't end up with the lankiness of Superion.

One of the cooler sets I think, over all they are nice. Blot's the only one that really brings the set down at all.

Decepticon Regular Targetmasters: Triggerhappy, Slugslinger, and Misfire.

For my 50th post, The Decepticon Large or Regular Targetmasters. These three are a pretty unique looking set of jets. I'm extremely fond of them, all except the Targetmasters themselves, which have a clip and peg transformation joint instead of the rivet that the Autobots have, which relies on the pliancy of the plastic when they transform to flex. Unfortunately after twenty-five years, they don't flex so well, and a lot have ended up broken.

Something I've Been Looking Forward To: Zone Big Powered (Dai Atlas, Roadfire, and Sonic Bomber)

I've been waiting to post this review for a long time. I was waiting for the last piece to arrive. This set is made up of Dai Atlas, Sonic Bomber, and Roadfire. This was probably top three in my grails list, the main reason being...Micromasters! These are referred to as the Powered Masters, as all three make use of a motor, Dai Atlas's using batteries, and the other two use a wind up one.

Return of Convoy Sixliner and 2003 Reissue

Secondly out of the Micro combiners, I picked up Sixliner in the same lot as the Masterforce Sparkabots from Megatoyfan/Megamus. This figure is the first use of the train mold, and the only one of them released in Return of Convoy. Like the Operation Combination sets, this was released in a gift set box. He was also re-released in Operation Combination.

Unlike Sixwing, they stuck very close to the original colours with him in the reissue. There are some details different which we'll get into later.

Operation Combination Sixwing and Destron Sixwing Reissue

Figured I might as well post these as a pair, so in essence, this is more of a comparison review than a regular one. When I picked up Raiden, this was also in the package, along with one more nice piece I will post on later. Sixwing was unused, so no labels are applied, may get some repros to apply so as not to use the original sheet, but I don't know if I will.

In package, the six figures are prominently displayed. I really like how these look in box. You can see from the artwork how much detail is added by the labels, especially to the thighs and chest.

We'll go figure by figure, comparing them to the Destron reissue as we go.

Micromaster Combiner Bases: Battlefield Headquarters and Anti-Aircraft Base

Going to prefix this by saying the AA Base is probably my favorite of the Micromaster line. So there is a bias going on here. I've wanted to do this review for a bit because of this. These two are the Micromaster Combiner's large-scale bases.

The Battlefield HQ is pricey for a Micromaster set, probably the most expensive of the US released ones. The alternate mode of the Micromasters a transport truck when combined. The front is Full-Barrel, the back one is Overflow. I picked this guy up minus two guns for a decent price on eBay last year with the Tanker Transport, and H picked up the guns for me and mailed them up here for me, thanks again.

Sparkabots and Masterforce Sparkdashers Comparison

Really happy to have found this set, the US released ones were some of my favorite toys for a while as a kid. Don't have a clue why, but they were. Maybe the vehicle modes? I picked the US ones up in an ebay auction for all three with their Techs. I don't collect techs, but it was an easy way to finish the set quickly, and the techs are a bonus. It ended pretty cheap too.

From left to right, Sizzle, Guzzle, and Fizzle.

1986 Movie Decepticons and a Tag-Along

So, as a few of you know, I've been working on a huge project for Transformerland, I finally finished my part of it, a grand total of 1440 pictures sent into the site. I still hate taking pics on a white background though, and probably won't do any more for a while unless I need to do a few more for them. So, onto the point of the post, Burntrolls asked if I would post Gnaw, so I'm going to do the foursome from the movie.

First up, Galvatron. I picked this up from my Scottish friend. It needed new labels, missing the Y piece, and needed a deep cleaning. Now, however, he looks great. His cannon mode is pretty accurate to the movie.

Headmasters Trainbots and Raiden

Picked this up today. The Trainbots were one of those Japanese G1 sets that really appealed to me, I don't know what took me so long to pick it up. I opted for the gift set. The box isn't perfect, but I'm more concerned about the figures anyways, and they are in great shape.

First up, Yukikaze. The younger brother of Shouki of the team. He vastly prefers cold.
